Top Ten Blog Design Mistakes of 2005
Fresh on the heals of his recent publishing of 2005’s top ten web design mistakes, Jakob Nielson has now put out the Top Ten Blog Design Mistakes. As usual, Jakob puts things into words better than I possibly could.
In a nutshell, the Top Ten Blog Design Mistakes are:
1. No Author Biographies: Anonymous = less credible
2. No Author Photo: Call it “Blog Branding”
3. Non-descript posting titles: Sell it!
4. Links that do not say where they are going:
5. Classic hits get buried: Bring previous posts back from the dead
6. The calendar is the only navigation: Try topic categories
7. Irregular Publishing Frequency: Keep it regular
8. Mixing topics: Stay focused
9. Forgetting that you write for your future boss: One word: “cache”
10. Being a blogspot/typepad noob
